Hiyu. Internal communications, Culture and the Craft of Connection.

Hiyu started out as a consultancy. Today, it’s a bit more than that.

It’s where I explore what really goes on inside organisations. The tone. The culture. The leadership signals that shape how people feel and how work gets done.

You’ll find articles, reflections and real-world insights on internal communication, employee experience and the quiet power of getting people on the same page.

And if the thinking resonates, yes, you can work with me.

What you’ll find here

  • Insights on how to improve communication in hybrid workplaces, support employee experience strategy, and align teams during change

  • Ways to work with me – whether you need a strategic comms consultant, a sounding board, or a fresh take on how your organisation talks to itself

Who’s behind Hiyu?

I’m Rich Baker – a communications strategist, writer, and long-time internal comms obsessive.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve helped shape internal communication and employee experience across companies like Amazon, Jaguar Land Rover, Carlsberg, The International Red Cross and Virgin Trains.

I specialise in helping organisations build trust through better communication, define their leadership voice, and create culture-shaping content that resonates – not just lands.
